Dallas Leigh Atkins
is an elder and disability law attorney and a licensed marriage and
family therapist. She received her BA from Bryn Mawr College in
1970, her JD from Villanova University School of Law in 1975, and
her MA in Counseling Psychology from University of California, Santa
Barbara, in 1988. She became licensed as an attorney in 1977 and as
a marriage and family therapist in 1991.
Dallas’
passion is combining her legal training and experience with her
family counseling skills to help elders, disabled persons, and their
families meet the challenges of aging, disability, and incapacity
while maintaining maximum autonomy and quality of life.
The focus of
her practice is planning and problem solving for life-long
public benefits, long-term care, and the elder years. Her work
centers on Medi-Cal estate planning, applications, and appeals,
Superior Court petitions to preserve the assets and income of
couples with a spouse in a nursing home, durable powers of attorney
for property management and living revocable trusts with Medi-Cal
planning powers, transfers of the home and other assets without
endangering Medi-Cal or SSI, trusts for protecting public benefits
of disabled persons (Special Needs Trusts), nursing home admissions
and contracts, and end-of-life care. |
